MOVIE POSTER MONDAY: The Women
This week’s poster cuts quite a figure, huh? Heh.
Actually, in a sea of overdone posters, The Women will certainly continue to stand out until the film’s October 2008 release. There’s the classic hourglass shape, of course, but get closer and catch the catchwords. Some are cool (”intuition,” “intellect”); others are from the Oprah Winfrey school of chick cliche.
The Women is part of a 2008 trend of movies about the fairer sex and their oh-so-complex relations. First, we talked about the upcoming Sex and the City movie, then He’s Just Not That Into You. Now, as directed by Murphy Brown mastermind Diane English, a movie with a huge lineup of women: Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, Carrie Fisher, Candice Bergen, Bette Midler and Debi Mazar.
