Movie Poster Monday: French Version of Oliver Stone’s W.
In our leaked trailer post for Oliver Stone’s G.W. Bush biography / parody W., I mentioned the irony of a renegade like Stone using Bush’s own campaign slogan — the single letter, aimed at us morons – to title a movie that clearly, um, questions his credentials. Now, check the design of the letter W in this French movie poster for the film. (click on the poster for the biggie)
Ah, the fabric of the American flag as “the W.” Is the designer saying that Bush, for better or worse, represents “the fabric” of America? Or, maybe, that the icons Americans hold dear were re-formed and shaped to fit the world of “W.”…
Up top, does that say, “After JFK and Nixon”? Hmm, that could be misleading as hell.
Unlike the trailer, the poster actually lists the names of the actors playing the real-life roles — the trailer only lists the real names, which is a howl. I like that better than saying “Josh Brolin IS George W. Bush…” But, hey, France, ain’t the U.S. so we pardon them the extra explanation.
