More Details on LAND OF THE LOST
Here’s some additional Land of the Lost stuff that’s been hanging around since our February post on Will Ferrell’s latest movie. (We dig up details so you don’t have to.)
:: Universal released this bug-eyed photo of a whole bunch of evil Sleestaks.

Why such a (welcome) similarity to the 1970s television series? Director Brad Silberling told USA Today: “There is a sense of humor that I loved from the original show that can only come from an actor trying to negotiate the suit.” If Silberling brings that kind of thinking, I think we old school fans will be pleasantly pleased with the film. (Word up defamer.com)
I don’t know if it’s some mental flashback to my youth, but the Sleestaks are still scary. If I see the movie on a Saturday morning, it’ll be even worse…
:: Our friends at slashfilm provided a little extra flavor to the studio description of Will Ferrell’s Rick Marshall as a “has-been scientist.” (This doesn’t sound like a spoiler, necessarily.) They report Marshall becomes an embarrassment to the scientific community after an abusive attack on Stephen Hawking during a TV interview, forcing Marshall to become a tour guide at California’s La Brea Tar Pits.
:: Chaka, the doofus primate with barely opposable thumbs, is being played by SNL writer and Hot Rod co-star Jorma Taccone (left, with Andy Samberg).
:: Universal’s notes have a promising tongue-in-cheek tone saying “Space-time vortexes suck.” (Wouldn’t that be “vorteces”?), calling the film a “super-scaled comedy” and referring to the Sleestaks as “painfully slow reptiles.”
:: The Land of the Lost official release date: July 17, 2009.

I think Dr. Steel’s “Land Of The Lost” should be on the Soundtrack! I mean for cryin’ out loud it’s got Sleestacks rockin’ and Chaka getting sauced-how cool is that!?!?
